Venetian blinds are available in wood, metal, plastic and fabric, in horizontal and vertical louvres. With their simple structural function, they seem almost integral to the window, part of the serene passing of time.
Venetian blinds give a faceless window graphic definition. The warm natural tones of wooden Venetian blinds are, surprisingly, all the stronger against vivid curtains or painted frames and actually mellow the incoming light.
Roman blinds have all the grace, strength and durability of a sail. Operating on a simple cording system, the Roman blind draws up into a series of broad, flat folds. Dowel rods, secured horizontally and concealed within pockets will improve the way pleats fall and will keep out more light.
Avoid large scale patterns because the design will be interrupted by the horizontal pleats. Dowel rods can be made of timber (half dowels to rest flat against the fabric) or perspex with lightweight and sheer fabrics.
Roman blinds can give a twist to the simplest of fabrics. A thin, sheer organdie Roman blind edged with linen and stretched across a window filters an ethereal light.
The pull-down white roller blind is a classic. Containing just a single key piece of apparatus, roller blinds can be used independently or as 'blankets' for sleeping when paired with curtains or delicate sheers. We can also make Roller Blinds, using customer's own fabric.
